- Description:
- The 1922 Game Report for the Nezperce National Forest is an important early document because it illustrates the initial development of forest service wildlife management policy. In 1922, the Forest Service was mainly concerned with preserving game animals and saw larger predators, especially coyotes and big cats, as the greatest threat to successful wildlife management, recommending that hunters or trappers be employed to kill predators. But the report also predicts the possible extinction of big game by recreational and commercial hunting and recommends the establishment of a game preserve.
